PhD defended!
The defense of my doctoral thesis – 12.7.2024 – was a beautiful day (much more than I ever imagined). It became an intense and fruitful discussion, followed by a celebration in petit comité with my two admired tutors Andreas Haug and Johannes Menke, and a few colleagues from the Julius-Maxililians University of Würzburg. The written PhD thesis received a qualification of Magna cum laude and the oral defense received a qualification of Summa cum laude.
I dedicated the last years to the study of an unknown source in Aquitanian notation, which was discovered only a few years ago in a private house. Several questions surrounded the source in terms of provenance and relationship with the existing sources and their repertoires. The title of the thesis is: The Saint-Maur Gradual-Troper-Sequentiary: An Early-13th-Century Source from Southern France.
Of course this would not have been possible without the support and advice of a large list of people, whom I should thank from the bottom of my heart.
Although some moments were tough (combining the thesis with concerts, teaching, and developing in other research areas simultaneously), it was worth completing this stage which is the beginning of many other inspirations that shape a new future.
